    XB 21 Question

Will a ultrex pedal fit into the recessed area on an older model (2011-2013)?

It will-- BUT not all the way.
You can put a small spacer under it that is not noticeable or take some material off the bottom corners of the pedal.

LIke Mike stated. To sit it all the way down in the floor of the well the pedal needs to be placed too far forward. My 2013 does not have the E-ped I opted out of that option so it could have been set to the bottom but it would have been forward too far. I built a false floor to raise it up some and allowed it to be about an inch and a half from the back.

I cut the factory recessed tray out and installed a comfort troll dlux in my 2010.

My new one is plenty big and is built lower in the front so the cables can be routed underneath the depth finder. After fishing one day with the pedal mounted flush on the bottom I changed that to personal preference.
I raised my pedal 1/2 inch in the back so I could hit the N button and the constant on without breaking my stiff foot.
Raised the front 1 inch so that the motor is now pointed straight ahead when the foot pedal is flat.. Just works and feels more natural for me.

It really is a nice unit and my deck is solid as a rock with it installed. I've had two guys standing right beside it and it's solid.

How much more deck space does that chew up?

The tray I have is about 1.5" longer and maybe 1.5" wider including the flange. I haven't felt that it's cost me any useable space when fishing. The extra length is forward toward the bow on mine. I may have set it a 1/2" further to the stern. I don't use the cup holder due to the mount for the bird being over it, but the tool holder is still useable for regular length needle-nose pliers (short, not long). Honestly, the tool holder and cup holder were of no importance to me when I bought it.

That looks great Joe. Reason I asked if it was an XB21 is because of the aluminum cross brace structure under the front deck. How did you cut that?

The cut out for the new tray was very close to the original. If I remember correctly, I only had to trim about 1/2" more. Here are two pictures of the opening. I had a saw quit on me in the middle of the cut so I ended up cutting with an oscillating saw which is why the cut is rough. It cut pretty easily. The best way would be a small circular saw I think.

Same Tray... Tim said he didn't have to do much more than squaring off the corners from the Factory Recessed tray...

I'd imagine using the butt of your rod? But I see your point Mike.
