Where to tap into for water pressure

    Hello, I have a 1993 xr6 elpto 150 hp. Serial # OD254478. I ordered a mercury water pressure kit # 79-895288A21 ( 1 to 15 psi gauge ).
Where is the correct location to tap into the motor for water pressure?

I HAD CALLED MERCURY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY WATER PRESSURE SHOULD BE ABOUT 12PSI AT 5500 RPM. I ORDERED THAT ONE SO PRESSURE LOSS CAN BE SEEN EASILY. I READ POST AFTER POST OF DEBATES ON THIS. LOL. BUT IF IT RUNS PEGGED LIKE YOU SAID, I CAN JUST REPLACE THE GAUGE WITHOUT HAVING TO RUN ANOTHER HOSE TO ENGINE.
I WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHERE TO TAP INTO.

10-4 understood id rather see 15 ,watch any long sweeping turns at 12, if you get a sudden spike in psi could be steam = not good

Hey everyone, just an update, i went with the 2 to 30 psi gauge like Joe suggested and glad i did. i installed Tee connector that came with kit at top of block. ( The hose that feeds the poppet valve right behind flywheel. as mercury said, i had about 12 to 14 psi at 5500 rpms. but went to 20 psi at WOT and 5psi at idle. thanks for the advice Joe!20190819_174840.jpg20190819_174825.jpg

Is there a photograph of this location on the motor available that someone could post?
