Point 1 HDS Network Setup Question

I have a HDs Carbon and am trying to network my point 1 to it. I was able to plug it directly into the back of my unit but my Carbon isn’t recognizing the point one on the system. Do I still need a NMEA starter kit even with a Carbon? I thought it was plug and play? Thanks in advance for your help as the instructions aren’t very clear to me on this and google hasn’t helped answer this specific question.

    Thanks,
    Brad

Yes you need the starter kit. All NMEA devices must be on a powered NMEA network. Connect both the Point 1 and the HDS to it and all will be well. Do make sure that you put the NMEA network on a switch or it will always draw power. Also, not that ALL graphs you have need to be on the NMEA network to use the Point 1. Just having one on NMEA and others connected via Ethernet is not how it works.

Awesome. Thanks for the information! I was afraid this would be the answer. Now time to order the NMEA starter kit.
