possible ground above starter solenoid on ficht

I have a 2002 225 HO Ficht I was cleaning wires when I noticed this wire that was connected to the motor block above starter solenoid was corroded over badly does anyone know what it could be.

You may have accidentally found your problem. Corrosion especially inside a cable can make it useless.

could it affect how the engine runs because it was caked on corrosion

Depends on what the ground was for.

There are several grounds on the block of the 3.3 L engines......search them out periodically and keep them CLEAN.......
