Humminbird Screen Captures from 10' to 20'

We get asked alot for images from different water depths and structure types. To help other see the benefits and user results of the different depth ranges and structure type lets start threads on different conditions to show how the Humminbird Performs. We will start a Master Thread and then we can link these different Depths and Structure Type Images to those threads to help others.

This thread will will be for Side Imaging in the 10' to 20' Range of Any Structure.

If you have settings information or can help describe the image please share that too.

That's Humminbird Marketing Manager Mark Gibson in the water... This was from 1st Generation 987c Technology and would be even crisper if it was Gen2 technology with Higher SI Frequencies that provide higher detail images.

Please share your images too! We love to see examples from everyone.

Shallow Stumpfield...You can tell alot about the height from the length of shadows and details from the side imaging about each individual stump. I caught the largest bass ever from Truman Lake a 11-7 out of this stump field in 1995. It's a special place for me.

What are the settings for such clear crisp pictures? I am still strugging to get dialed in. Any help would be appriciated. I am heading to Table Rock on Friday and would love to finally see what I have been fishing for the last 20 years.

check the faq area here: http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-...-resource.htmlHere is Doug's base settings:

Here are my base settings...I adjust to match the conditions during the day.

SI Sensitivity: 8 to 12 (Lower for hard bottoms, higher for soft bottoms)
SI Enhance Settings: Off for Crisp Images - Low or Med to make it easier to see fish
---Sensitivity: This is the same sensitivity as above
---Contrast: I leave it at 10 most of the time
Scroll Speed: Make boat speed or a little slower 2-3 when idling for me
SI Transducer Frequency: 455kHz for largest coverage area (90% of time) 800 kHz when looking for more detail (10% of the time)
SI Range - how far out to the side. 75 ft will allow you to see in better detail, but 200 ft covers more area.
I use wide area of coverage to scan quickly but for the highest details and ease to find where the fish are hiding I will recscan with reduced coverage area of the points of interest like 75-100' Area of Coverage.

DI Sensitivity: 10-12 this is seperate of SI or 2D Sensitivity
DI Coverage: Wide for more data or Narrow when only looking under boat

Down Imaging uses the SI Frequencies 455 or with HDSi Transducer on 898c, 997c, 998c or 1197c, 1198c offers 800 kHz. I use the 455 kHz.

    2D Sonar Frequency:
Switchfire Mode: Max for Vertical Fishing and Water over 10', Clear Mode when I want to see fish only
Sensitivity: Varies per conditions and which Mode I'm using
Transducer Type: 200/83kHz combined is best for most coverage area.

My settings are about what ryanerb is describing as well. All depends on Range and depth but I'm usually 8-12 on both sensitivity and contrast. I run the chart speed equal to or +1 over my mph.

Next time you are out take a recording a good long one (15min or so) with some structure and different depths. Then when you get home grab a beer and replay the recording. The beauty of this is the bird records just the raw data of the sonar readings. You can look at different views and change settings and see what looks best. In other words even if your entire recording was taken while the SI screen was showing you can replay it and look at down imaging or even your navigation chart if you want. Its really an awesome learning tool and sometimes you see things you missed on the water.

    Hope this makes sense.

Nice tree on top of a little hump.

Tree on top side of ledge.

I think this one should go in the hall of fame.
Road/bridge with before and after shots. Creeks runs through the bottom. Bridge was pulled out, too bad because it would have been an awesome shot.
