I know cali has a good bit of big deep lakes for giant DD's, but there are people that specifically hunt for those. It’s different fishing for those 15+lbers usually. With all that said you can always get lucky.
Sounds like I’ll need to make a longer trip to get the job done! Thanks for your response

Clear Lake has them. But not easy to catch them. Heard of 2 over 11 this year Lots of 6-8 pounders. Takes over 30 to win here year round. I’ve caught 3 over 10 here and 3 at the Delta.

For a higher percentage, it's going to be a hard to beat some of the private lakes.

I have to wonder how the odd's go up for a DD when fishing Golden Shiners in the south or trout in the west?

I may need to make a trip!
An 11+#er won big bass on day two of that tournament. There was a 13+ caught by one of the anglers in practice for that tourney. The lake has them (and dozens of other lakes down here too), but they are special because they are rare to make it into a boat. You just have to put in the time and get lucky.

Caught my only DD down at Chic about 5 years ago, they seem to be getting less common down there now.

Fork is prolly your best chance at catching numerous 5lb+ bass. I have never caught a bass that I weighed over 10lbs, more than few 9s and 8s.

I've had 2 DD's on Fork. One on a frog and one on a Texas rig worm. Both shallow. Had a DD on Richland Chambers on a squarebill abd one on a small East Texas lake on a jig.

My plan is to go to FL, probably St. James River or one of the lakes nearby and throw big golden shiners.
