    Question Rubrail screws

I’ve had issues with the rubrail screws popping out or loosening up. How tight should the be after I put 4200 or similar sealant ? I tightened them down pretty good but that has caused waves in the rubrail. I’m guessing that I compressed the rubber too much.

I might use a cordless set to the lowest torque to drive them in, then finish by hand to get the feel. Mine, at least the round "key" piece that covers the screws is wavy. The rubrail part on the hull is not.

This morning I back off the screws a turn or two and will
See if the rubber relaxes a bit after the sun hits it.

That tube, the thing that covers the screws. I found, when you put it back in, hammer in the end of the tube, then work from the middle to either side toward the bow and transom. If you say work from the bow to stern, you'll end up with extra tube cuzz you're stretching it the whole time. God, does that at all sense make what I wrote!
