    20×30 Detached garage breakdown cost.

So I'm in the process of building a detached 20×30 garage and thought this might help some guys with cost, now consider every area is different but I got a pro quote from lowes because I was making such a large purchase . I'm also doing all this work by myself with help of my dad and Friends except for the concrete. Total quote from Lowe's on a Pro quote I'm saving almost 14% over cost . I have 10 foot ceiling height I have a 14 × 8 garage door. Grading and my concrete ran me 4500$ . My exterior walls with 7/16 OSB 16in on Center 10ft 2×4 studs cost me $2,000 including exterior house wrap 2 windows and one door. A company which is about 45 minutes from me called Overholt Truss has made my Tresses $ 1562.20 for 24 16 in on center . My 24 sheets of 7/16 OSB on the roof including my shingles 30-year architectural drip edges and titanium underlayment is $ 1024.00 . My cost on my siding to complete the whole project is another $1800.00 . My garage door is going to run me $ 1500.00. Not a direct cost but estimated cost on my electrical my lighting which is going to be all LED and receptacles is going to run me another. $700.00 I also have another $400 in equipment nails ect and bought a new 30 gal compressor. When I originally set out to build this I budgeted $ 16,000.00 and it looks like I'm going to beat it by $ 2000.00. It's a lot of work but it can't be done I looked at a lot of different designs and I also read a lot of post about guys that have built garages and it cost X if you budget your money right try to get the best deals you can you can build a nice garage / man cave for under 16k . Hope this helps anyone considering building one. Once I get done with the project I'll post pictures from start to end process.

Start to finish going to take me about 3 months seems like it rains here 3 days out of a 7-Day week and normally on the weekends when I'm off. Keep in mind I also didn't post it's not finished on the inside no sheetrock and no insulation. But at least all my equipment my boat and everything else will now have plenty of space to store and be in the dry.

Your trusses 16 or 24" on center? If 24", you might want to think abt bumping up to 5/8" plywood decking for roof with the architecture shingles.

Thanks for taking time to post. Building one similar in Greenville sometime soon. Already planned on using overholt for my trusses too.

Good post. So you think it's around 14,000. Material . What was Lowe's original quote . ( I assume for material only? )

16 on center total of 24 with Gable ends drop down 3 in so I can stand up a 2×4 and tie it into the truss behind the Gable end makes it a lot sturdier for your soffit ends. I'm also using 30-year architectural shingles

Is there a reason you went to garage instead of pole barn?

30 is a good length, but at 20W I hope you
are only planning to house one boat or vehicle.
Mine is 24 wide, and I dont have any excess
room for 2 of anything. LDS

I just did a 22x30 metal garage on a concrete slab. I am at $13500 all in except an 18’ garage door. You definitely saved some. Pics when it is all complete!

Does the land area restrict building the garage 24’ wide?

Thanks for posting. Who's doing your concrete and grading? That's a very reasonable price.

What kind of slab are you getting for that price . Building slabs down here are going from $7.00 a foot and up .

For me yes it would have to include removing a bunch of trees and reshaping a bunch of stuff .Th e 20 by 30 was going to fit perfect

Mono slab 16in deep around the load-bearing walls 12in wide . 4 in deep on pad with reinforcing fiber. 13 yards concrete goes for $150.00 a yard.

That is a good price on getting concrete. Is that a 4" floor?

You answered before I got my question posted.
