I'm not sure if this page is private (its a friend of mine) - but he is using it on the ice today: https://www.facebook.com/mat.rowan.186

Actually, I'm even more excited for this than I already was after seeing how well fish not only appear but how you can see the moving (this is where 360 was a complete dud to me after using it for a few days on my buddies boat - sure we could see fish but they'd move and we had no idea where to by the team the radar spun back around). Super impressive IMO - especially since its free. I'm used to every tech advancement in this industry being another 1-2 grand - huge props to Garmin for not taking that route here.

Do any beta testers on the bracket know if they kept the 8 degree offset? I'm on a FS pole with 0 degree bracket right now so the new bracket might not be for me until other companies start producing a 0 degree Perspective bracket similar to what they did with the standard mount.

    Go to Garmin Marine website
    Scroll all the way down
Look in left hand column and click software updates

OK I want to see a video of fish moving around in front of the boat...

I can see everything moving in the video, they need to hold it still so I can see the fish moving

The link above I shared showed this (fish moving - including a musky where you can literally see it’s tail swimming) - sorry, thought everyone would be able to see the videos but perhaps need to be FB friends with Mat. Can’t figure out how to share his videos here otherwise via link....

    Ok, check my math...

    tan(20) = depth/length

So at a 200ft range with a 20 degree angle the depth would be...

    200ftXtan(20) = depth = 72.8 ft

So the ratio for distance to depth is = 200/72.8 = 2.75 (approx.)

So for every 10 feet of Perspective mode distance it will scan downward 3.64 feet = 10/2.75
So at 50 ft you won't see the bottom unless you are in 18.18 ft of water or less "at that distance" 18.18ft = 50/2.75

I believe this is why they recommend this for shallow water only.

I guess a better way to look at it is if you are in 10 ft of water you will be able to see the bottom and everything above and beyond (assuming there is no dramatic drop off) at a distance of 27.5 ft from the boat. (out to 200ft of range?)
    10 ft x 2.75 = 27.5ft

If you are in 5ft of water you will see the same starting at 13.75 ft from the transducer or boat.. 5ft x 2.75 = 13.75ft (out to 200 ft of range?)

This is assuming that the top plane of the 20 degree angle is parallel to the surface of the water, which it may not be depending on the mount for the transducer. But you get the idea.... I like it.

Easy DIY mount off of Facebook. I'll be doing the same to try it. I'm so excited I might stick my arm down my hole tomorrow and just hold my ducer sideways if the ice is thin enough.

+1. It's nice to know they didn't make a product to be outdated in 2 years, and built it for future updates. Makes me wonder what the GLS 10 is really capable off.

LOL. This is much better than the $99.99 one: angle is adjustable at least, and the transducer can rotate in all 3 axles!

That will work but you will have to make sure you are compensating for the 20 degree angle. Your bracket needs to angle the transducer 10 degrees or so downward. Can you do that? Otherwise the upper part of the cone will hit the surface of the water and go skyward so to speak..

Dude, a little more down is fine, as you can see bottoms closer, until it’s in down mode. Really depends on how deep you are fishing.

All in all, vertically it needs to be able rotate from 0 degrees to 90 degrees (or more if you count to the other side, but not needed).
