I like the bigger handles on the Lew's and the outer adjustment is awesome. Very easy to dial in when fishing lighter baits. I'm fishing BB-1 Pro's now and I dont think there's a better reel made by any brand. I do have a couple of the Tournament Lite's on order. Those things are super super light and felt good in hand. I would expect these will be nothing less than another stellar reel made by Lew's.

^^^^THIS^^^^ If you get a Lew's, get a Tournament Pro or above. I don't really like the lower end models, for that the Pro Qualifier is probably a better deal when they go on sale every year. I switched everything over from Shimano a couple of years back once I got talked into buying a Tournament Pro at a local tackle shop. You can usually find them on ebay in the $140 range and they perform as well or better than a lot of higher priced brands. I have a gen 2 STX that I keep in the rotation that I really like, and a few Chronarchs but if I had to choose one I would go with the Tournament Pro- especially once you learn how to tune them. I have 5 or 6 of the Lew's Team Pro reels as well and they are the best reels I have ever used and got them from Tackle Warehouse on sale for $200 a pop. I'm sure there are some $300 plus reels out there that will perform as well but I have used a lot of reels and Lew's $150-$250 range reels are the best I have ever fished with. If you haven't tried a Tournament Pro, it may be worth your while to pick up one. There's a reason a lot of threads pop up comparing Lew's to other reels. Plus they send you boat bags and hoodies if you send in the rebates (although the new small boat bags suck compared to bigger ones they used to give you.)

Ill agree that there's no huge difference in reels as well as rods and other things. I have seen a few reels that would cast light weight baits better. Those Revos are tough as hell and it seems the lews are too. I've got both and neither is 10x better than the other as stated above. Both are great reels. I can always find a lot better deals on Revos, so that's what I own the most of.

I been on the revo bandwagon since they came out, but i after hearing all the reviews on the lews i gave one a try and it definitely won me over and the price was incredible. After rebate and discount I got the tournament speed spool reg 139.99 for 89. I still love my revos, an i'm not replacing them, but any new purchases will be lews.

BPS, Pflueger, Lews and Abu Garcia are all made in the same place with very similar components...but I will take Lews over Abu Garcia any day. Better value for the price and have worked well so far for me.

Same with me the early Lew's and Ryobis all felt good in my hands back then and Lews still does today.

I like the Lew's better. Mostly due to the fact that their logo looks better on my jersey, plus their decals on my truck and boat are cool too.

I ain't interested in buying abu I think personally that Lew's is better and all my bait casting reels are lew's. I just like seeing people's opinions on fishing gear :)

I did know that Lews and BPS where made in the same factory but not all those are other brands too. I really like Pflueger though so its cool to know that Lew's and Pflueger are made in the same factory.

ive had revo's and now fish all lew's basically whichever one you think looks better. There both awesome reels in my opinion but prefer the speed spool I don't really know why just feels good in my hands if that makes sense.

fallout with them, very long diluted story but BPS will NEVER carry lews again.

As for the OP's question, I have 5 Revo Premiers ($300) and have used Abu exclusively for the last 15 years. I have great respect for Abu and nothing against them but I just purchased 5 team Lews Lite ($240) and in all honestly the Lews kick the crap out of the Abu's. If I could buy them at the exact same price (either $300 or $240) I would choose the team lews lite over the premiers any day at either price. Thats not to say that the Abu's are bad reels, I like them a ton and believe that they are on par with any of the top brands, but the Lews just really blew me away. I will still use the Abu's, but they aren't to far away from being sold and me going all Lews.

Lews has terrible customer service. If you need a replacement part you're screwed. Abu is awesome. I asked them what to grease and what to oil on my STXs and they sent me the reel schematic with arrows pointing where to oil and where to grease. Was handwritten so someone had to actually put a few minutes of effort to it. I've tried to contact Lews on phone and email for replacement parts and never get a response. I've been told by a guy that has a reel cleaning/repair service that he has the same problem with Lews.
