Around here as well..loved seeing me 4 and 2 year old running around catching them last night
Granddaughter caught a jar full. We watched them for a while and then took the lid off to let them go.
her first lesson on “catch & release”
Bumper crop in southern middle Tennessee this year. Been seeing them for about a month. Our cousin's from Michigan are always amazed by them when they visit.
They killed them all here with development and pesticides. Used to play with them as a kid.
Best ones are the synchronous fireflies in the Smoky Mountains - they do an aerial ballet.
Not really noticed em here yet. It's been so rainy everyday not spending much time outside. I'll take a better look.
Saw em last night, pretty cool!
Years ago my cousin would catch a bunch put them a sealed clear top water bait for night fishing.
You can lead a horticulture,
but you can't make her think.
Looks like the same ones we have here.
When I was a kid we used to have a good bit down here! Now I hardly ever see one.
If you're going to be dumb, you've got to be tough!
This happens every year in the Smokey’s .....
Used to mash them and rub the glowing stuff on our face when we was kids
