    Granddaughter caught a jar full. We watched them for a while and then took the lid off to let them go.
    her first lesson on “catch & release”

    Bumper crop in southern middle Tennessee this year. Been seeing them for about a month. Our cousin's from Michigan are always amazed by them when they visit.

    They killed them all here with development and pesticides. Used to play with them as a kid.
    Best ones are the synchronous fireflies in the Smoky Mountains - they do an aerial ballet.

    Not really noticed em here yet. It's been so rainy everyday not spending much time outside. I'll take a better look.

    Years ago my cousin would catch a bunch put them a sealed clear top water bait for night fishing.

    I didn’t know there were different kinds. Those are probably the same ones we have around here.

    No there is a distinction in species and the ones in the smokies that light synchronized are unique in the whole world
