The zoom seems to be a lot sharper and cleaner looking than the original

And Don't forget the Other New Features for Humminbird HELIX G2N Units

    Bluetooth Connectivity

    HANDS-FREE FISHING BUILT IN

Bluetooth® capability keeps your phone out of the water and in your pocket by displaying notifications on your HELIX. You can also take control of your most-used features with an optional Bluetooth remote.

    New AutoChart LIVE Features

    Bottom Hardness

Now the detail goes even deeper. AutoChart Live uses sonar to measure and chart bottom hardness, tipping you off to likely hotspots.

    Vegetation

The weedline can no longer hide. With help from your sonar beam, AutoChart Live can now instantly map weeds, brush and other vegetation

I can see the zoom being used a LOT with this technology ..... Since the images are so sharp, the fish will appear smaller than before on SI.....but really pop when zoomed.

I can see some future software upgrades for the Bluetooth.

More details captured and more Pixels of the HELIX Series allows more details to remain as you zoom at higher and higher levels.

The resolution on the Onix is less than the Helix.

The Onix color pallette is much better as is the transducer or was. Onix images were the best out there.

I sure hope they continue the Onix. I will be bummed out if they are going back to the Helix.

I agree.personally I'm not to interested in the helix series.I hope the onix will continue to be the flagship(humminbird probably wants to sell a few helix g2 units before they say much about the Onix.what u think doug)not color pallet , software...

    Am I missing something?

I thought Minn Kota and Humminbird had a big announcement "TODAY"
    http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....753666&page=11 POST #203
    Attachment 259042

This new "Mega Imaging" is incredible! And I for one want one but this was out there a couple days ago
and the only connection to Minn Kota is the follow bottom hardness / weeds
And all the discussion prior to today was saying the announcement wasn’t about the new Helix G2N

SO IS THIS THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT? IS THERE MORE TO COME?

Next - when Bass Pro slipped up the other day and posted all the new Helix G2N units they had Chirp SI & DI Icons http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=753666&page=8 POST #153
    Attachment 259043

Now we are talking about Mega SI and DI
Why would they create these icons if there wasn't going to be Chirp SI & DI?

Doug's images at the start of the thread clearly show CHIRP imaging ... in both fixed frequency and sweep frequency ...

Since the units have blue tooth. I would think the next step is to eliminate the ethernet networking, cabling, and switch and just use blue tooth to connect all devices?

Forgive me for not making that leap since HB calls it one thing and BPS calls it something else

Not to mention they used different ICONS

I assumed since they differed that this wasn't the announcement and there was more to come

That's what I get for assuming
