    New 721 Owner

Well after looking at the 619 the past week or so, I realized this morning that it was no bigger than my Z7. A fine boat but I was looking for a bit more room, and well I pulled the trigger on a new 721. I hope to get it this weekend. I have to unload my boat and strip it down before I take it in. The dealer is moving my Humminbirds and Power Pole over for me, other than that, it will be ready to go.

Trust me I will be on here a lot as I get the boat set up and propped out. From what I have read so far it will be either a 25 Fury or 26 Tempest to start with. Looking forward to fishing out of this one for sure.

Guess I need to update my signature.

Congrats on your new ride. .....I do agree with you on the 619. I had looked at the 719 and I thought that front deck was small.

I'm not 100% sold on Phoenix boats yet..... I took a ride down to Wood boat and Motor Marine in RI to checked out the Phoenix 719 Pro, and I was a little disappointed in the width of the front deck for a 19' boat, it looked a little narrow to me. They had a Ranger Z518 which is a 18' boat right next to it, and that front deck was way bigger than the Phoenix 719 front deck. Before I buy anything I would like to see & ride in a Phoenix 721 and 920, but there isn't any dealer within driving distance from CT.

Dawnpatrol......I completely understand your thoughts. The deck on the Phoenix looks small, but it fishes great. Im about 6' and 240 my buddy is 6'2" and 260 and we both stand shoulder to shoulder in my 721 with 2 dozen rods scattered across the deck and still dont feel crowded at all. After riding Ranger, the ride quality and fishability of the Phoenix is every bit as good if not better, plus the birds move a little quicker. But you are correct.....you should ride every boat you are interested in before making the decision. Spend several hours riding, fishing and towing to be sure of your decision.

    Dawnpatrol,

i thought the same thing when I bought my 721 a few years ago. I picked it up without ever riding in one, but once you start fishing it won't bother you at all. I also used to think the same thing about a legend front deck, again after fishing out of it there were no space issues.

Dawnpatrol, the 6, 719 have the same deck as the Phoenix 618 (18'6") width and length which is comparable to others in its class or even larger. That doesnt mean it is going to suite everyone looking in either of those classes of boats. The 721 has a much much bigger deck than the 6,719 618 w/ bigger storage options but yet it retains its narrow nose style. The 9 series fit the bill for those looking for the beam to carry a long way to the nose.

Okay I did not know the 9 series were wider up front. The reason I did not go with the 619 was that the front deck was no bigger than my Z7 width wise, but I like the extra distance to the consoles. I would probably like a 9 series, but price wise the 721 is a great deal for me.

I was in the same "boat" so to speak. The 7 series was too narrow for me coming from a ZX250. The 9 series fit me better.

Don't count out the 27 Tempest as you look at props. It's the only prop I will run on mine and see 74-76 MPH GPS regularly with just me in the boat and it hasn't been worked at all.
