    01TR 21 buying a new 250 pro xs

    I have a 2001 Tr21 Dc I run a 225 EFI right now but I will have a new 250 on it in a couple weeks.
Old motor ran 70 MPH last fall with a 25 Trophy 8" manual JP 2.25 " below the pad. Just wondering what prop would be best on this boat with the new 250.
Not changing the JP and any suggestions engine height for the new motor.

Tempest runs way better than a Fury on a Triton hull. I would find a 24" pitch Tempest.

I agree with bassfisher444-I'm running a 24 Tempest on mine. Hole shot, mid-range and WOT is awesome.

Only 16 hours on motor. Have been at 75 several times during runs in a tournament. I'm not the type that goes out and just does WOT. The fastest I normally drive my boat is just separating myself from other boats leaving tournament launch. 4S is a different feel than 2S when on the pad. I don't know why. I installed all new hydraulic steering on my upgrade and don't have the same amount of movement that I did with 2S. Anyway, I believe Tempest is the best prop for older Triton hulls. Have a great day.

Kind of off topic, but since I know it will happen eventually. Anyone know how to go about getting a 250 capacity tag for a TR20?

Yes get them here. They are great to deal with. I have purchased several decals, from them and they have always been top quality. They can custom make you anything you want as well if you send them a picture with dimensions even a new ID and serial number tag for your outboard.

I run a 26" Tempest+ 3 blade on a TR 20 DC with a 225 Opti, 77-78 mph. Are you putting on a new 4 stroke Pro XS or did you find a NOS two stroke? Seems like you'd be better with a 25" Tempest? I'm going to experiment with a 27" Tempest+ here soon to see if I can swing it with light weight lithium batteries. May have to cup the 27" down, but I'd give up a little holeshot for top end, but to each, his own...

A Optimax is way different than a 4 stroke. That 250 4 stroke likely won't turn a 25P Tempest to enough RPM unless it is lightly loaded.
