    25 Fury 4 blade

So... after about 4.5 hours testing this weekend on my boat, I got PTP set nicely and found that a Tempest is just to fickle on my 1997 Triton TR21. One plug it won't get up. Half a plug it blows out at nose over right as it planes out. No plugs I blow out at will. 2 half plugs and it won't get up.

Dropped a 25 Fury 4 blade on it and it hops up out of the hole. I didn't have a chance to check top end as it started to rain. I did see 62 and climbing.

So... I'm confident that the 25 Fury 4 is my animal.

They appear hard to find right now. Is there another prop out there that is a copy of that prop that I can look for?

Those are known to be blade slinger, so be careful with your Ptp.

Yeah, I've heard that as well, but if there isn't anything else like it... I'm kind of stuck.

24 Fury, hops right up but max speed was 58mph right at the limiter. That was 3" PTP, we then went to the Tempest, which is what everyone says I should run on that boat.

And... 25 Tempest plus is what I was hoping to run, but on my boat it's too sensitive.
One hole fully plugged and I can't get on pad. One half plugged and I can get on pad but I have to horse around to do it because it wants to blow out at 4000rpm. No plugs and it will blow out at will. Going to 2 half plugs is like 1 full plug and it won't get on pad. We went up and down and everywhere with the Jackplate/PTP too...
All this testing was PTP 2.5 down to 4.5. Some things change a little, but the end result is the same with the Tempest. It just doesn't like it.

I tried a 25 Trophy without a blowout ring and it blows out at will too. I do have a blow out ring on the way, but that will totally seal off everything, so I don't think that's going to work either.

I could probably get a special prop from someone like Croxton, but I'd rather find something off the shelf that runs good. That way should something happen I know exactly what I need and I can find it quickly in a pinch. Plus... I can just find a second one and not be out a bunch of "custom" money.

i agree on the bravo recommendation -- dont know if you tried one but it is really good. Ran a 24, and could have gotten away with a 25 i think, on a 21 PHX with a verado.

I haven't found one of those yet.
You said run a 24 not the 25? The 4 blade Fury 24 I was against the high speed engine alarm at 5850.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for that one. I think I saw a 24 on marketplace the other day!

Usually going from a Fury to a Bravo 1 FS or XS, you go up in pitch.

My thought process was I had a 20 foot stratus with a 200 Evinrude and a 24 FS was perfect and you’re running a 21 footer with a 225 so same slightly underpowered situation but I know it’s Apple to Orange is also you could also call Marks Propellers and get one of his bravo clones And his great advice if you can get somebody to answer the phone or reply to emails which I never seem to accomplish

This weekend I'm going to move some gear around and try the 25M again as well as the 25 Trophy I have. I was hoping the blowout rings that I ordered would be here, but it looks like they won't show up till next week. For some reason they got shipped half way across the country the wrong way before heading back my way.... No wonder these shipping companies can't make any money...

My nephew boat one of the very 1st Triton Tr21's serial number was 90 something. Merc 225 efi, with a 25 pitch Trophy. It would flat out run with that 225 and Trophy. I believe he ran a exhaust ring on it, can't remember the port size plugs.

They sling blades, Bravo FS or XS is a better performing prop and doesn't sling blades as easily.

I didn't get a chance to run it this weekend. Hopefully this week. My blow out rings showed up saturday, so hopefully that is my animal!

25 fury 3 start at 3.5 in, no plugs, should run about 70-72 mph at 5750
Tempest prop should only have one medium hole plug with correct p to p 3 to 3.25 ht
    Thank You Leon Pugh

    I didn't have a Fury 3, but the Fury 4 25P is a good runner.

The Tempest, you are correct on one "half" plug but it would blow out right at nose over. If I played just right, and I mean JUST right, it would run out.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Fury 3 as well.
What is the difference between a Fury 3 and a Tempest both 25P?

The Fury likes a little lighter boat and will turn about 200 less RPM than the same pitch tempest will. Fury has a better hole, tempest caries heavy load better, on lighter boats the Fury is a little faster, reverses on heavy boats like Rangers

    Interesting!
It seemed like the Tempest 25P was struggling, like the boat was to heavy, till we pulled plugs then it would just blow out. That was Full load and full livewells.
Oddly the Fury 4 blade 25P hopped right up like it was kicked in the rear. No problems.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Fury 3 25P! I like having options!
