I will say my Fortrex was way easier to use Livescope on. You can make tiny, slow, smooth adjustments to the direction. Much finer than any electric steer motor. I really liked that about it. My Garmin Force is great, and I like spotlock but it does not have the ability to make as fine of steering adjustments.

If I was fishing mostly shallow I would go back to a Fortrex in a heartbeat.

I'd give up my power poles and all my electronics before I go without a spot lock trolling motor.

Exactly! I’m not replacing until it breaks and with a kid playing ball I don’t get to fish much right now. When it breaks I’ll get spot lock.

When I bought my new bass boat I took the new Fortrex off of it and replaced it with a new Ultrex.

Interesting comment about how the new spot lock motors you cannot make such small fine adjustments like you could with a fortrex / Plus, some guys are saying they don't like the feel of the foot pedal and the delay in slowness and turning

I'll fish in a boat with no outboard before I fish in a boat that doesn't have a spot lock trolling motor

I have a friend who has an Ulterra. Foot pedal is terrible. I will continue old school trolling motor until it dies.

Couple years ago I was fishing Clear Lake with at least a 20-25 mph north wind. I was catching 3-5 lb bass like crazy on a wacky Senko. Only way to fish north facing shorelines put my Ghost in Anchor lock and fish off the back of the boat. If pointed forward, I'd get blown over the fish before the Senko ever got down to where they were. I must have caught 20 fish all in that size range and probably would have not caught nearly as many without Anchor lock.

Well. because I am retired, and turning 70 in four weeks, I fish out of a 24 year old TR21. I hope to get 5 more years out of the boat and all of the added accessories including the Fortrex which was installed maybe 8 years ago. After 75, who knows if I am able to continue fishing 2 days a week. So at my age I can't justify cost. If I was 20 - 25 years younger I would probably have a new boat with all the latest and greatest.

The Ultrex doesn't seem to have the steering problem. It acts like a cable steer without the steering torque you get with a cable steer. I hear the Ghost acts more like a true cable steer than any of them. I'll also mention again that my Ultrex has been heavily used over the past 5.5 years and never been in the shop. It's pretty primitive compared to the Ghost/Force/Move/Quest.

Too expensive, plus my Fortrex is still going strong. Hard to justify spending that much money to replace something that doesn't really need replacing.

I told my self the same thing for years but then found a deal on a used terrova and now i kick my self for not spending the money sooner, had i known what I know now I would have paid full price years and years ago. Spot lock litterally makes time on the water more enjoyable.

Just can't get use to the motor making ajustments on spot lock, dont like the noise
and the boat moving on corrections....happy with power poles and a foretrex, if its that
windy I'll find a way to fish the area and I always fish deep ..

It's Jumbo Perch fishing time in Lake Erie right now. We fish between 50' - 70' of water and you must sit on top of these fish by anchoring. Spot Lock is a game changer since it came out. I rarely see anyone without spot lock on a boat fishing perch on Erie and sometimes there are a hundred boats out there.

When I needed a new TM the Ultrex was new and was having a lot of issues. I went back to the old work horse.
