As long as warrenty is a consideration and it will be for some time, people will be tight lipped. A 721 with a 300 should run mid 80s.

So I guess I'll be the one to ask a stupid question. What is flashing exactly? Thanks.

They "flash" the ecu for performance gains. 200hp and up are basically the same motor(not positive if there are other parts or not on the mercs) so the factory just uses the computers to regulate the hp. On a SHO you can make a 200 a 250 with a computer flash. I bet in about another year we start hearing about a few. Really depends on if merc techs can see the flash. If they can most people will wait until the warranty is up

On the Mercury 200 and 225, you can go to 250 I think unless you change the throttle body to the one that comes with the 250/300. From what they told me, they can take the V8 to a 325.

I "know a guy" that did it. 21 PHX picked up 2-3 mph. He was told that the flash would increase the rev limiter. It did not. He is working with Simon trying to figure that out.

Without a rev limit change, a prop change would be needed or I would expect 2-3 to be the real world gains. The V8 will detune itself to keep from going over the rev limit by design from Mercury. (Assuming that hasn't changed in the flash)

When I was personally considering it I asked the hammer guys what they thought. Real world seems to be that 2-3 mph without raising the limiter.

That depends on if you are flashing a 200 to 310 hp or a 250 to 310 hp. SHO guys going from a 200 can see upwards of 11 MPH.

That's about all it'll get. Falconpilot got his 20phx to 83 with a flashed sho, lithiums, and a bunch of $$$ in prop testing. 721 will be a tad quicker but it's not like you're going to go from running upper 70's to 90 with a flash. I've seen where guys with 300 mercs have been running mid 80's consistently but I'm pretty sure they're running labbed props.
A labbed prop on a stock 250 will get several mph alone

I bet you can go up to 26 or 27 pitch prop. I am a 25' Fury 3 with the 250 today high 70 most of the time, 80 a few times and 81 once. with similar RPMs.

By design the V8 will keep RPMs at or under 6200 to keep from over reving. I bet you can "free" up some HP by going up a bit in pitch. Did the mid-range change any?

Mine is a 2 stroke 2017 not the v8. I had my 300 xs flashed on my old stroker and was just wondering what gains would be on a phoenix with my 250.. Thanks for the input. Sounds like 2 to 3 mph and looking at lightening the flywheel also.

Don't think there is much to be gained on the 2 stroke.

6200 both before and after the flash.
