    Question Tokyo Rig

OK so these things are out of stock everywhere... Can't be that hard to make..... RIGHT?
What size is the down wire....do you think? I have all the supplies to make them, but
just curious what size down wire and length. I have S/B shaft wire in .024, .028 and .036 to use.
    I am thinking 8 inches long wire with .036 S/S wire. Size 1 barrel swivel, # 2 or #3 split ring S/S.

Couldn't you just tie a piece of line to the eye, and hang a weight on it?

I was thinking stiffer than just line..... If I'd use just line, it would be like a drop shot... I have not seen a VMC tokyo rig in person to
find out what components they actually use.

I can see it being awesome for dragging, the weight will kick up the dirt and mud, and the jig will look like a small fish chasing whatever is causing the disturbance.

Could someone please explain to me why / when this rig can work better than a ds? Seems to me to be too much "hardware" for a slow moving bait. I see no advantage....

The only advantage to me is the direct contact up and down with the weight rigid... I'm not sure there is any other benefit. I'm actually not a fan of these. Lots of metal for this technique.

    Basically an extended Jika Rig.

I dont know why you need a swivel on top... I would think these wire shafts would work just as well....

Seems like a whole lot of hardware for no reason to me?

I agree with 21XDC. I don't see the purpose of the swivel. I understand why the solid wire (to add some lift). I have been using the finesse drop shot weight on a Jika Rig to add a little lift off the bottom.

I got a few of the long tail swivels off eBay to experiment with and found the wire diameter to heavy for my liking.

These might be what you bought….They are too thick. >>> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LONG-TAIL...-/163255925726

I'm going to make something similar... But a weighted bait on the bottom of the wire, and a non weighted/floating bait above. Kind of like an A-Rig Jig, thing-a-mabob.

I saw those duck decoy swivel wires. I agree about the swivel at the top of the wire. I am going to make one to try with m S/B wire.

I made one of these this morning, the thing I did different was twisted an eye with .035 wire. I wish I knew how to load a picture!! But you can see it on” Do-It mold tackle crafters FB page.
