Just to update. Alternator shop could not repair the old one. Claimed they could not find
parts. Ordered new one, installed and op check good.

I dropped it off at the shop for rebuild yesterday. Guy wasn’t sure if he could do it or not
but they are familiar with marine parts. I live on the Florida gulf coast so marine repairs are common.

I seen there was a superseded part number. At this point, I think it’s better to fry a rebuilt
one verses a new $300 one. Seems to be a lot of 150 alternator issues out there.

Wanted to post an update, finally got a chance to run the boat. First I lowered the motor one hole, result:
gained 1 MPH, but hole shot was substantially better. RPM 5750, 53 MPH.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll try to drop it down on hole until I get a plate for it and see what
happens. The prop slipping causing the porpoising makes sense, I wouldn’t have thought of that....
