I've had this happen to me, if the wear sleeve is not positioned properly, the grease hole will cut the lip seal.

I like your idea, which bearing cover are you using?
Temperatures are warm to touch, wonder if the O-rings are starting to fail, I know there's two o-rings between piston and inside the cap.
Did not think of the O-ring between hub and the cap, will...
Spend some time in the search forum. Leaking a bit Vault Hybrid Lubricant between hub and the piston any idea what would cause this?

Would a group 31 AGM battery, be too strong, amperage wise, to start a Mercury opti (Serial 1B042770) 115ELPTO 2005. Only have a helix 10 now, but plan to purchase a Helix 12 & 360 down the road.
