Did anyone find an alternative cable for the Force? I am on my third cable and don't fish as much as most bass guys. The plastic breaks and the cable starts to frey.
Here are some pics of the back compartment out of my 97 201D. It is very tight in there!. This is from a number of years ago when I had 3 group 29 flooded trolling batteries and 1 cranking battery...
I have a 97 201D and believe my fuel tank is 43 gallons. I think there were more than one tank size installed in these boats depending on other options. Another BBC member posted this pic a number of...
I never use the strap once I start fishing with the Force and I am commonly in rough water. It shouldn't move, something is wrong.
I have the GT36 and went with the GT15. It reads the bottom at high speed and stays locked on. Also the install to attach it to the hull was very easy and it will never get damaged or be in the way....
I went with the Garmin GT15 and GT36 and a Y cable. The GT15 is more powerful than the GT8 but I am not sure if that translates to better performance. Mine can pick up the bottom at high speeds in...
I hate to say it but the touch screen probably went bad. Many of the A98's had issues with the units failing prematurely. I had two A98's and both failed right at three years. these units were babied...
Great news on the leak at the sending unit! So was the fix just replacing the sending unit so it could make a better seal? Might as well replace the supply line from the tank with A1-15 rated fuel...
Let us know how it goes, I am really interested. I have been considering repowering my 1997 201D but am really worried about the tank lasting.
I would if I had your skill!! lol
Joe I don't see any sealer on the split line of the block it looks clean. Even the pry points don't have any chips in the paint. Put over 40 miles on it yesterday at the lake with no missing or...
Yeah Joe it is hard to believe it still runs so well and is holding that much compression. Would the two photos showing someone painted "200 EFI" on one side of the block and "2 EFI" on the other...
I certainly was surprised to see that when I pulled the cylinder head off! Appreciate the insight.
Makes sense now that you both point it out, those are pretty distinguishing marks. I am now wondering when this might have happened, seems like it would've made enough racket for me to notice. Maybe...
Pulled both cylinder heads and here is what I found. #5 clearly has issues. So is this what happens when a piece of the metal reeds breaks off?

Alright thank you both once again. I ordered a bunch of parts from European Marine yesterday and am going to replace the water pump and the base. Will pull both cylinder heads and replace the...
sorry to hear that. Does your 201D have an aluminum or plastic tank? I saved this photo from a post on this forum years ago of someone's tank that was removed from their Cobra.

Just put the motor on the hose in the driveway to check the water pressure. Reading about 1.5 to 2.5 psi idling at 750 rpm, around 3 psi at 1000 rpm, around 5 psi at 1400 rpm and 6-7 psi at 2000 rpm....
Thank you gentlemen, seems like a straight forward install then.
Leon I do have a water pressure gauge but I am not sure it is working right. I will look into verifying whether it is working correctly or try and get one for testing. Thanks for the input
Thanks Don. The leak I can see on the port side is coming from between the cylinder head and the block directly below the #6 plug. Does the fact that squirting a small amount of oil into the #5...
I have a 1997 20' Cobra 201D and am considering a repower to a 2022 250 Pro XS. My current fuel line set up is 3/8" from tank to primer bulb and 5/16" from bulb to engine with no external water/fuel...
After removing the idle stabilizer and detonation controller, I took the boat out to the river for an hour and put it through its paces. It ran great without a single miss or hesitation. Since this...
Thank you Joe.
