If you don’t care for size and want numbers try Holt Lake in Butner. It is a small lake and full of bass and it’s steep and deep. You may catch a big one there also.

The cape fear river is full of spotted bass.

Fished it Saturday and caught 8 nothing to brag about size wise. Caught them on a GP red flake trick worm rigged on a shakey head in shallow water.

Yeah I’m the water clarity and carp wasn’t an issue in 2019.

Biggest thing I noticed was how the carp and lack of vegetation has changed the water clarity. The fish that were caught today looked pretty healthy overall.

Check out some of the fish camps around Santee Cooper. Depending on the time of year it can be something special and lots of good scenery.
