    Looking for owner's manual

Been a while since I've posted but hope someone can help me out. Friend just bought a 99 Javelin Fish and Ski with 99 Johnson 130 motor. He is a complete (and I do mean complete...) novice with...
  2. Re: Assisted/automatic stow and deploy mechanisms (my492vs)

Thanks - let me think about that and also see whether I could squeeze in a third battery. Apprciate the offer.
  3. Re: Assisted/automatic stow and deploy mechanisms (STRETCH1)

Thanks - not having a Motorguide makes that less appealing but I will keep it in mind.
  4. Re: Assisted/automatic stow and deploy mechanisms (Jonestrollingmotor)

Thanks - that might be the way to go. I'll give you a call when I have the serial number etc of the motor/mount, I think that retrofitting is a good and economic alternative.

    I'm surprised there...
  5. Re: Assisted/automatic stow and deploy mechanisms (1ManShow)

OK - by lifting do you mean it will only go from deployed to stow and not stop anywhere in between? The 2x4 won't help my back - I still have to lift the thing and then bend to get the wood in there...
  6. Assisted/automatic stow and deploy mechanisms

Would like to hear opinions on the mechanisms offered by MG and MK - I fish in very shallow marsh in SE Louisiana and often need to temporarily lift the motor up somewhat but continue to run it to...
  7. Re: Fix for low TPS reading on my 04 225 HO non ETEC DFI (Bassmeister)

For me, fixing the engine is easier than posting pics but I will try to post some and also the part numbers, that will make it a very easy fix to understand indeed.

As much sage advice as we all...
  8. Re: Fix for low TPS reading on my 04 225 HO non ETEC DFI (SEAHORSE)

The roller was suggested I think by Championman but a new one didn't change the issues. Both banks are still perfectly synchronous, didn't have to mess with that fortunately. I did at one point...
  9. Fix for low TPS reading on my 04 225 HO non ETEC DFI incl. part numbers

So I've posted several times about my throttle plates not opening all the way and low TPS % (~80% rather than >98%) on my 04 225 HO DFI without much feedback. After some careful detective work I've...

    TPS question

Motor is 04 225 FHLSRM. Been trying to figure out why my TPS would not read above 89% at wot and found that the plastic sensor arm on the TPS has a flat worn spot where it contacts the metal arm of...

    Follow up to TPS question

Posted earlier about low WOT TPS reading on my 04 225 FHLSRM. I suspect my problem may be caused by worn bushings in the throttle levers - there is noticable lateral movement in both levers,...

    Re: 04 Evinrude 200 HO (champ188)

Have an 04 225 HO, strong, smooth running motor but like any 2 stroke they can and do blow up - mine twice so far in 300+ hours.
  13. Re: Low TPS reading and injector questions? (triton21dan)

That's right, when you have the motor running and enter timing mode (ignition timing tab in settings I think) the laptop gives you a target, e.g. 21 BTDC. Using your timing light look at actual...
  14. Re: Low TPS reading and injector questions? (Danrude)

    Thanks Danrude.
  15. Re: Low TPS reading and injector questions? (triton21dan)

Suggest you get a factory service manual. in a nutshell, to set mechanical tdc you'll need a piston stop tool - I got one from Summit or Jegs or the like. With battery disconnected rotate flywheel...

Re: Need help removing concealed controls (Hair Jig)

I'm sure it's easy for ChampioNman and he sure makes it sound easy http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif - but I've done this on my Ranger a couple times and it was a royal PITA, very...
  17. Re: Low TPS reading and injector questions? (Danrude)

Yes using software voltage is 0.4 or so at idle position, 3.8 wot. I've never been able to get the plates perpendicular, very close but not fully there. I'll try some more.

    Any thoughts on the...
  18. Re: Low TPS reading and injector questions? (Danrude)

Yes, should have stated that - set mechanical timing and EMM timing (21 degrees BTDC). TPS just starts to register as the plates begin to open. Max voltage appears to be about 3.8 IIRC, think it...
  19. Low TPS reading and injector questions?

Motor is an 04 225 HO FHLSRM. Just finished rebuild, rigged powerhead on the boat yesterday. TPS at idle stop is 0% as it should be, and starts to increase as the plates open, but at full throttle...

Re: could it be a bad emm? (cat_fish_28)

Not sure I understand - you have voltage to the solenoid and from the solenoid to starter but it isn't cranking? Or are you saying it cranks but doesn't start?

Re: could it be a bad emm? (cat_fish_28)

Ditto to what Seahorse said. Did you check for voltage on the S and I terminals of the starter solenoid when cranking? Might just be a $25 solenoid, start delay relay or neutral start switch.

    Re: (ndietiker)

Sounds like a smart plan - any 13 yr old motor could blow, so if you can get it for essentially nothing based on the unreliability issue then you are ahead of the game if it does take a dive.

    Re: (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

There's no doubt many of those did go bad in the first few years, but this is 13 yrs old and apparently still going strong. You'd be hard pushed to objectively blame a future problem on the...

    Re: (javelinbass)

I don't have any experience with those motors but regardless, it's 13 yrs old and unless I missed it in the post has not had a history of blowing in those 13 yrs - seems a little unreasonable to...
  25. Re: Questions about sealing crankcase/Gel Seal II (ChampioNman)

I let the primer dry first, the gel seal was an unopened tube purchased two weeks ago (of course that doesn't tell me the age) - the stuff was skinning over in seconds, not much time to get...
