All the above dead on. Weight is about the same so its not a factor. Do they both have the same setback? 254ci vs 170ci. The SHO has nearly 50% more displacement. That is a HUGE difference.

It might not be as bad as you think. Usually the only way the foam gets water logged is from neglect. Letting the boat sit outside uncovers with the plug in or placed where the boat can't drain....
The foam starts under the floor in the front compartments. The floor comes to a point in the center and that's where the foam starts. From there all the way back to the transom the floor is filled....
We have had very few guys with X22 on the board. From what I can remember, a X22 w/ a 300 was very similar to a X21 w/ a 250.

Does anyone know what the bolt pattern dimension are on talons? You would think MinnKota would have a template you could down load.
T-Bob, Red x21: The area that you need to check is the foam in the bottom of bilge area near the transom under the floor that the fuel tank seats on.

If you suspect you have water in the floatation, the first place to check is in the bilge area. Check the foam in the center step.
When you had a 14" setback on it, what prop did you run?
Is that a 2.5L motor?
