Any VV can be removed, reinstalled and reprogrammed for different engine use. There could be some compatibility issues, but they’re not bound to the original vessel/engine forever.
Mercury’s Fuel Treatment System is approved for use in all of the new V8 and V6 FourStrokes. Quickcare, Quickleen and Quickstore can all be used and are recommended.
Attain a copy of the operator’s manual for your gauge or engine information display and go through a trim calibration. Set the trim up jut beyond where you find you’re trimming up to. This will give...
The new V8 and V6 FourStroke, no matter if mechanical controls or DTS, all have the same electronic throttle body and shift actuator. Essentially, they’re all ‘DTS engines’. AGM batteries can handle...
Yes, to an extent. Depending on the age of your pump kits, there’s a newer faceplate with a diverter that’s used on the new engines.
Go back and double check your work. Could be as simple as a quick-connect hose fitting that didn’t get seated properly or even crossed with another.
Reliability: Doesn’t seem to be an issue, but they’ve only been on the market for one whole year and availability isn’t all that great. Several charter operations are nearing the 1000 hour mark with...
The shift actuator is located just above the lower unit and it will be removed. The lower chaps have to be removed to gain access to the actuator wiring harness. From the looks of it, the AMS models...
Mercury does not recommend the use of lithium batteries with their engines. With that said, I’ve seen them used for years on their engines (Verados with DTS included) without any issues.
Just had a 37’ Freeman leave our shop with 1700 hours on a quad set of 400Rs. We maintain several commercial operations that have reached over 5000 hours.
The most I’ve ever seen on a Verado were...
Service Bulletin 19-01: Mercury Marine has identified the potential for water to leak into the shift actuator, which could cause internal corrosion and wire damage. Failures of this type will...
Remove the plug from the bottom of your new filter and install your existing water-in-fuel sensor. If the Allen-head is stripped out, grab it with a set of Vise-Grips.
Re-calibrate the trim range on your SmartCraft tach. Keep in mind that you are not setting a trim limit, so your engine will continue to trim to the full trailer position.

They look much better the moment you fire it up for the first time and even better when you nail the throttle for the first time.
Your mechanical control engine contains the same electric throttle body and shift actuator as the DTS models.
As Don stated, we also see more problems out of mechanical linkages and cables than...
File an insurance claim. 16 hours does seem high, but your dealer and the insurance company can hash that out.
Don’t forget about the extra 200 RPM, stiffer motor mounts and the low water pickups too.
Max RPM brought down to 6800 RPM from 7000 on the 400R. Calibration designed to provide more power throughout the RPM range with 89 octane use. No SportMaster lower or rear tie bar plate (sport cat...

A SmartCraft tach or even Vessel View Mobile would really help you out.
Is the Mercury tech able to ride with you and monitor the CDS when the fault occurs? I’m wondering if you have a faulty...
Norman brought his boat to us last week and we got his problem resolved. The throttle cable at the engine and the HotFoot idle stop screw were out of adjustment.
DTS is not a popular choice on most applications that will utilize the 175 ProXS. No need to offer what may not sell. The standard 175 FourStroke offers DTS as an option to give the boat builder or...
:thumb up2: We never service Mercury FourStroke or Verado engines at 20 hours and have no influx of premature failures because we stick to Mercury’s recommendations. It has been that way since we...
