Thanks for all the information. I appreciate it.
I really need to replace the carpet in my 2005 198. lots of wear and sun over the years has taken a toll on the original carpet. Does anyone out there know what weight carpet was used in these rigs...
I raised the seats in my 205 198 elite this past season. I made a frame from treated 2X4" strips 1 1/2" wide. & attached those to 5/8" treated deck boards. Doing it that way gave me a shallow storage...
Looking for mdl. info for a 1985 Champ that measures 20' 6". Dual console with padded removable seating on the rod storage. My catalogs don't go back that far.
Thanks
Smaller lakes and quite water for the most part, 45" is fine but if you fish more open water and larger lakes you wont regret a 52". I've never had a problem fishing around my 52" Ultrex and it stays...
Lowrance recently released another update for the HDS Live units geared to correct problems with units that would not recognize the live sight transducers. My 16 would pass info through to my other...
I recently removed my HDS-5's and replaced them with 9's. Big problem was the holes left in my console and bow after removing the 5's and what to do with them. Seeing some posts and the work of Beach...

I had a 5.5" CMC on my 198 but changed to a Bob's 10" because of the faster travel and 1/4" incremental L.E.D. gauge...then it was already drilled for the brackets too. It's easier to quickly see...
A lot of guys are using two in parallel for Electronics/cranking.
My 2005 198, 2005 Evinrude 225 D.I., H.O. makes 73 m.p.h. loaded but with empty live wells turning a 26" Fury.
Like your solution a lot. Would save a lot of time when all you need to do is change a pump or cartridge.
Here’s one more thing I recommend and do every year on my Champ. Getting at these pumps takes some effort and time and you don’t want to do it more often than necessary especially if it could have...
You don't have to pull the fuel tank but working in the bilge area of this boat is much easier with the tank out of there. Everything you need to do in the bilge is a pain so I tend to delay this...
Does anyone know how to contact someone at T-zer? I have questions and can't find a place for answers.
Don’t see how you can…The bushings and slide cutout will take up to much room to mount the jackplate bracket. If you have an older CMC with the outside pump I don’t think you will be able to mount...
As others have said, both Poles & Talons are great units. Both will do what you really want…keep you anchored to the bottom. Both have had some problems but I haven’t noticed one being more...
If you are going to pass the transducer cable past the bilge and live well pump outs to the console, be careful. Those fittings are plastic and will break if you get that large plug bound up in them...
Which transducer cable are you removing? The in-dash flasher transducer cable may be permanently attached to a harness along the inside starboard side of the hull. It can’t be removed. I would...
The Ultrex foot control is 12 1/4" X 9". My 198 has the molded in foot pan and the Ultrex fits in it with room to spare if that helps.
The link below takes you to a complete 1991 Champion owners manual which contains the wiring diagram. You should be able to download the manual.

I have a 112lb, 52" on my 198 also and am glad I went with the longer 52" shaft.
Check your email mail. Two of them are there...if I did things right. Hope it helps.
In my 184, I put my oil tank in a plastic storage box and moved it to my starboard rod locker. The storage box keeps any spilled or leaking oil in the box and off the carpet. Pick up new oil line...
Weeds can be a problem with every motor, even a Minn Kota. A lot of our WI. lakes are almost to the surface with weeds. Even with my Fortrex I would have had problems at times. The solution for me...
