I can try doing this on my XR4 tomorrow, my other question though is do you have to have a dial indicator to find TDC before setting timing for WOT?

I have an 1988 XR4, purchased NEW.
From experience, check your battery while idling on muffs to ensure your regulator and rectifier are good and it's charging your battery.
Just found my regulator...

I've seen and read so much different on this topic, that I'm sure I could set timing by cranking, but someone just told me to put it on the slip, and check timing at WOT... that kinda freaks me out....
