Give Vexus customer service a call and ask for the schematic. That is what I did. They are great to work with. Also ask if they have the owners manuals completed yet.

Here is the procedure for the actual upgrade. They make you download the QR code in order to find it.

FYI------GPSMaps and EchoMaps will not network together. You will need to purchase maps for the 1222 in order to see them. If you had an EchoMap with mapping you could network them and share mapping.

If you are cheap like me, old life jackets that are either to small or worn out will work too. They do take up a little more room.
