Per Lou's thoughts has got me thinking... I know my friend who pasted has owned the boat since new and took excellent care of it... But ive never owned a yamaha and did a little research about what...
That's a good point.. there's is a lot of set back.. I'm just lookin for 70... and I think it's totally possible with the right prop..
I just trimmed the motor up to where I run it on the gauge for top speed.. and then marked the trim rams... there's 1 1/8 to go up on the rams still.. so I'm not over trimming the motor...

Forgot to mention.. I also get the exact same results with a 200 pound passenger.. slower hole shot.. but same top end results..
i don't really go by the trim gauge... last test i did i ran it to max speed.. then shut down and didnt touch the trim till stopped.. then trimmed up till off the trim rams to get idea how much...
I have tried setting the plate 1 inch up which would be 3 3/4 ptp and also 2" up which would be 2 3/4 ptp... same except hole shots slightly slower.... revs to 6000... but still will only take...
