Who did you purchase your VVL from?
20.2.3-64.3.127 shows as the latest for VVL. Might want to download and install it before going any further.
If you would, please take a moment to review the Announcements at the top of the Forum, and be sure to provide the Required Info (serial number) when posting. Thanks! :beers:
As suggested...
As long as both banks are achieving and maintaining at least 120 degrees AT IDLE, it should be fine. If you wanted to check the port side for leakage, you could remove the dump hose and watch when...
What you are describing is a relatively common phenomenon with this model. Fuel reformulation (and local blends) may exasperate it, especially in warmer weather.
Mercury has published these in some of the advanced diagnostic and tech manuals, also sometimes found in the PCM xx diagnostic manual.
Be glad to assist with a specific fault.
I'm guessing you have a memory piston or tilt piston that's jammed in the cylinder.
Yes, it's now acceptable (though most manuals still specify the Synthetic Blend, some even specifically stating to NOT use full synthetic).
For this application, I strongly recommend the Synthetic...

Possibly- a cold engine will be a rich-running engine, potentially reducing the life of spark plugs (for that matter, potentially the whole engine).
Yes, but I don't know which graph you're on. Michael- I've installed a number of these and not had any difficulties provided the sensor was in place on the engine.

First engine description is really somewhat of a guess. As of this morning, there are at least 117 unique 300-Fourstroke model numbers listed (NOT counting the 300r Models).
Comparing the...

It could (possibly). Also take a visual inspection of the stator windings for any discolored, burnt or melting bobbins.
I seem to recall that as well... if the engine is supported and the trim functions well enough to get it to move.
That's something we usually keep.
Check also Pages 32-39, especially the Engine Data Selection info.
If all else fails, I would reset the VVL to Factory Defaults, restart and let it detect the engine (again), then follow setup...
^^^^^^ Correct.
