Using my fluke multimeter at the battery. Also should note, my meter readings at the battery and at the alternator are exactly the same so that tells me the wiring between the components are good.

currently my alternator output is 13.2v at idle and 13.6v at around 1500 rpms. What is the normal alternator output for this engine? I am thinking it usually is...

Picked up a bottle of gear oil for my lower unit but when I got home I noticed the label says it’s for 75hp and lower(grey colored quicksilver bottle). The old...
Any updates on this problem lately? Just curious since my 200 efi is experiencing the same problem.
No problem.
He many blue depth lights are on the unit? Gen1 units have one blue light to indicate each foot of deployment. If it has 8 lights then it’s an 8 ft model.
Many good brands out there. Bottom line is "you get what you pay for". I have always preferred Gill and highly recommend their many different products for many different situations when it comes to...
don't wiggle the fuse holder, just push on each end and turn to open. Not sure off hand which direction to turn but if it don't move first in one direction try twisting in the opposite direction.

A slightly bent prop shaft can possibly take out the prop shaft seal and allow water to enter the lower unit. As mentioned above, take it to a mechanic and have the lower unit pressure tested for...

Switch boxes should be replaced as a pair. As originally thought, you have a faulty switch box. Stator should be ok
First thing that comes to mind is a faulty switch box.
If the prop shaft is bent it will take out the seals and let water inside. For piece of mind it would be best to have the lower unit pressure tested for seal leakage. Hopefully you got lucky and no...
As your probably already aware, Mercury will tell you, DO NOT add additional filters or separators. Your engine is already equipped with an adequate level of filtration (including a water separating...
If you decide to sell your covers I would be interested in one of them for my 12' talon, just saying.
All cables and connections clean and tight? I would start be load testing the battery. A bad battery can still have good voltage, a load test will determine if the battery is good for cranking or...
+1 Gill products are top notch and they are industry leaders in foul weather gear. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Was a compression test done? If not I would start there.
thanks for that advice Don. Was wondering if that bushing is actually necessary or can it be removed ? I read somewhere that it was needed in case the motor is run in salt water and it will...
Thanks JOE54, after couple hours of failed attempts I tried the "grease on a broomstick" technique. Only took a few attempts after that and it finally slid into place for me.
