Same to you and everyone on the board. Merry Christmas
You read my mind. A 225 4S V8 would be nice for sure. That start-up growl is worth the price of admission haha
Part of me wants to just run it and take my chances but the other voices in my head are saying “No, dumbass you need to handle this before it wrecks your whole engine” ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man
Ok thanks Don. I’ll check everything out. I was referring to the oil pump being $450. I know the compressor is at least double that.
frigging $450 ?? Wow! No fix other than change the whole thing out I guess?
Joe - I missed it earlier when you asked about the oil pump leaking. I think it is. It’s on the front starboard side of the motor correct? Little silver can looking thing? It has oil on the bottom of...
I appreciate the help. I might just change the filters and monitor them every 25 hours or so and also monitor the pulley to see if the slack gets worse. Maybe I can get another couple of years out of...
Just pulled one of the oil filters and it has a small amount of metal debris. Here’s a picture.
JOE54. Thanks yeah it’s the unpainted gray one. I’ll check the filters For debris. I took the belt off and turned the compressor by hand it seems ok. The slack is very minimal but it is there. Like...
2006 225 Serial # 1B256176 ~420 hrs. Disclaimer ** MOTOR RUNS FINE **
So I’ve been off work a few weeks and bored as hell. I’ve been basically tinkering around my motor doing some of the basic...
Trap - David Wade Marine in Baton Rouge. I’ve had great experience with them doing some work on my 2006 Opti 225. They did a full service on it when I bought the boat then replaced an air injector...
OK I'll check it thanks
Thanks Don. I know the battery is a bit undersized and I will be swapping it out for a 31 very soon.
2006 Opti 225XL Serial# 1B256176. I've always thought my motor cranked over kind of slow but it would always start so I went with it. A couple of weeks ago it failed to start at the launch so that...
Good info. Glad you got it done and saved yourself some money
Glad you got it done. Did you clean the rail and injectors?
I had the same problem with #6 not firing on my 2007 225 Opti. Ended up being corrosion in the direct injector. Don's right about them being expensive. $550 for one!!! Question for Don - what causes...
Thanks for the help. I tried a 21p Solas prop which was much better than the 23p laser 2 but still only got me to 5400 rpms. Found a Mirage plus 19P and I’m loving it. Hole shot is great and it runs...
Got ya. Wish I had access to some props to test. I'll have to check around. Is there a certain family of motors that use the same hub size? Might help narrow it down
It was on the boat when I bought it. Forgive me for the rookie questions I'm just trying to understand the basics of propping correctly. Thanks for your help
Will do. So you're saying the laser 2 is not even close to being right for my setup?

Yes sir that RPM reading is from my vesselview mobile via my phone. It's fairly close to what the analog gauge reads within 100-200 rpm. I'm all ears on different setups.
2006 Optimax 225(Serial # 1B256176) pushing a Mako 2201 bay boat. So I have a question about my prop and figured you guys may be able to help. After replacing the #6 direct injector, boat seems to be...
