Vicious regular I did not like at all,but when I tried the Vicious Pro Elite was a different story found it much more usable and manageable. I used the 15lb and found it ok for my power fishing baits...

I have used all sizes of spinning reels for over 50yrs and never had a problem with it hitting my knuckles ,you must be doing something wrong.

Only have done that a few times that I can remember ,around here a 12 to 16lb bag will put you in the money almost all the time.

Springfield has a 5 yr warranty I think or did call them if you have the recipt for your original maybe under warranty just got mind replaced in late fall under warranty.

You may have to loosen the motor from the transom to get the cables all the way out of the tubes, after replacing helms and cable a few times I broke down and got hydraulic steering best move I ever...
