Only reason I can see for that is if you wanted to run a deep cycle 24v or 36v battery for electronics. Have higher capacity in terms of wH.
Only other time I have seen these for marine is from...
When I did it I just used a white vinyl strip to cover the holes up. I think there was a couple spots that the glue pulled gel coat but I covered it up with 5200 and just smoothed those spots up.
Done it a time or two.

Kind of off topic, but since I know it will happen eventually. Anyone know how to go about getting a 250 capacity tag for a TR20?

:thumb up2: thought I may get some views of someone coming here having an issue with theirs.
Built my own. Ran 8ga from battery to fuse panel and 12ga runs from panel to units. If you have the tools it is cheaper to build than buy.
Upgraded to the rotary switches and have the touch pads up for sale. Everything worked on them when I removed.
Asking $150 plus shipping. 548757548758

that is holding me up on getting my boat back. Installer was having issues with getting switches to work.
Screw drivers, small socket kit, fuses, couple channel locks, electrical tape, wire strippers, some butt connectors, zip ties.
2 point…….shoot!!
This. Switched to keeping in a dry bag after pulling out wet rain gear one time....
