1991 175JGLEIS, the omc manual states
1. Apply permatex No 2. Gasket sealer to inner exhaust housing flange
2. Install a new base gasket on adapter. Coat both sides with omc gasket sealing...
Don’t really want to change. Availability and price is the only reason I ask. The mounts I have now are showing signs of wear and figured now is the time to replace since the power head is off.
Would like to replace my motor mounts while I have the power head off (j175gleis). Have found some that are solid machined mounts (look to be aluminum). I usually prefer oem parts, but in this case I...

Happy and safe 4th!
Thank you to everyone who has served our great country!!
I’ve pulled the thermostats, gonna see what that does. Are there many other causes for overheating? If so, where would you look next?
At what temp does the alarm go off?
Thanks

I ran the 150 yesterday (with the original carbs and heads). I decided to run double oil in the first tank because the motor has been sitting for about 8 years. The temperature of the heads, checked...

Ok, looks like the stator, rectifier, power pack, and encoder have different P/N‘s on the two motors, but the coil is the same. If I move the carbs, throttle bodies and heads over will that affect...
If possible, do you think you could take a look at the orifices on the front of your carbs and give me the their sizes please. Mine are not corresponding with the numbers on the “shop2.evinrude”...
Should I change motor mounts as well? I heard the faststrike mounts were beefed up, is that so?
Junk the block, yes. But it’s the heads that have the pitting.
Probably doesn’t affect the advice/info given, but I looked up the model number on the 150, I think it’s a 1995 not ‘96.
Where is a good place to get the Carson reeds and Gasket kit for this task?
Also, the center cylinder on both the stbd and port heads have minor pitting from where the seal ring broken pieces got in...
Doing this will basically make it a 175 correct? If so, will the gearcase be able to withstand the extra hp?
Thanks
Are you referring to the 150 model number or the 175 model number?or both?
Thanks
I’ve had the ‘91 175 for 17 years, I’m second owner, The previous owner must have taken it in for the recall because they are not the “hot” heads. 338311 are the numbers on them. I have no...
Thanks.
I just picked up the cowl from the guy I got the 150 from, it doesn’t say faststrike on it anywhere. You guys know if that model number is indeed a faststrike?
Thanks guys.
5800 recommended RPM’s?
I have 1991 faststrike 175 (j175gleis) that recently laid down. I checked compression and found the two middle cylinders to be considerably lower than the others. When I got into it, I found the...
