Hard to get an external transducer to read well when up on pad. Shoot thru hull transducer would work better. I have the original small in-dash graph with a thru hull ducer, it works well up to 50...

If I remember right, it hangs pretty straight. I didn't have to disconnect anything when I put mine on. Makes sense to mount it centered, so you are close to 3 1/2 ptp.

I built this, works well. The speaker box isn't attached. Makes that step up and down a lot easier.
