I replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor, took it out and no issues! Will report back after a longer run but I think that was it!
I will check for rust etc. but motor is clean. CPS will check and swap also. Could it cause an intermittent problem at higher rpms only? Can not replicate the problem with boat sitting in water...
Thanks Don, I did that, it never got below 36psi.
I removed battery switch and wired motor directly to battery, Checked wires for issues-none found.
Starts and runs great, in and out of gear, but take it out and get up on plane it starts missing...
Ok, I will bypass the switch and test.
Will this motor shut down if battery is disconnected?
Thanks Joe,. Will do. The MercMonitor going blank is what makes me think it's worse!
I'm now confident it is not fuel related, pressure good at all times.
Ran it around to test, it did shut down, this time at low rpm, and the MercMonitor was blank! Could this be a battery switch...
I replaced all fuel lines from tank to motor, ensured tank pickup was clear, no check valve.
Checked fuel pressure... 40psi at key on, 40psi while idling, and maintained it while under a light...
I will check fuel pressure as recommended
Thanks Joe, it does run great up to 5500rpm. I was at cruise around 4400rpm for about a mile, then stumbled and died. I stayed at 2000 rpm or so just to make it back.
It has been, for about a year.
I don't think there is an anti siphon valve.
Thanks for the reply, It does seem like a fuel starvation problem so I am replacing all lines from tank to fuel/water separator and line with primer bulb to motor. Even though it worked on the last...
After running a mile or so at 4400rpms starts to run rough then dies, no alarms, starts back up after putting in neutral, turning key off. Came back at less than 2000rpm, no issues.
Went through...
The re-configuring as a starboard motor worked!
New to me motor but no de-pinning that I can tell. Waiting on DDTto configure as starboard motor. Will report back.
The display reads "noSt" which the manual says means it is not configured as a starboard engine.
I will check specific display and fuse. It is powering up. Yes it is plugged in just like the 200. Blue Mercury harness, purple face inside the plugs.
Hello, I took off a 200EFI SmartCraft motor and put the 250EFI SmartCraft motor. The MercMonitor SC1000 is not getting data from the 250. It is getting power.
What could cause this? Thanks!
Sorry if I missed it but is it L or XL?
Hello, I plan to replace reeds, and get injectors cleaned in this motor. 1st time doing this so looking for a guide. I did look but haven't seen anything for this motor.
Thanks in advance!
Follow up; I determined the pump was bad by hot wiring it. I then ordered a pump from the ad that promises exact replacement for a lot less $$. It was physically too long so it didn't fit. So finally...
Is it ok to hot wire the fuel pump to see if it runs?
Changed fuses just to make sure
