I only get a few days off to work on this beast, I work straight through the rest of the month so that’s the problem I’m having. I’m going to pull the carbs off and check the intake gaskets, reed...
Ok so update. Took boat to very crowded lake, jet skis everywhere, and outboard ran exact same (maybe a little quieter) but did not accelerate past 3000 under load. Actually sounded worse with this...
Ok, took the powerhead off, wasn’t a bad gouge or anything to obvious. Used that aluminum bond, cures in 4 hrs, sanded smooth reinstalled and fired up. Seems to run good, and no leaks at the gasket...
I'll post back either way if it runs or not. I just bought a 2000 (or 2001) Merc 250 EFI I'm going to be installing after this one runs and I take the 225 Carb off to sell. I might do some intake...
I'll pull the powerhead off and see what the deal is. It isn't that hard to do, the B#$%^ was pulling the exhaust plate. I'm thinking there must be a small gouge in the exhaust plate. I've...
I had an old lower that the aluminum was so boogered up around the water impeller I had to RTV it to get a good seal. Bought a replacement (which I’m still using) lower and when I changed them out...
Here is a shot of the TPS sensor at WOT before I adjusted it, later noticed that the plug in the background is where I'm guessing the port for the remote oil tank lines would hook up....???
Okay, not much of an update but here goes... got the triple carb linkage all set and the shifters in place, measured the TPS voltage was 1.223 idle and 4.27 WOT, adjusted them to within range...
Okay, loooked at it again, was looking in the wrong place. Mine is just plugged with a pipe plug, looks like I can install the port... maybe part 21-878105 1?
Remember I’m trying to fix this engine to sell, so wanted it to be able to use the oil pump and not rely on mixing gas like I’ve been. But having to just use the 1.5 quart reservoir would be PIA as...
Sorry, meant the 3 gallon remote oil tank. The 225 has the 1.5 quart on board tank, oil pump etc that’s been unhooked. But there isn’t a provision/ port to hook the line to the 3 gallon remote oil...
Okay so just a little update, got the powerhead re-mounted, been looking to hook up the oil pump, I got a complete remote oil pump kit, plus the onboard reservoir... however doesn't look like my...
Thank you very much. I have it mounted on a DIY stand and plan on going through the vapor separator and looking over the fuel injectors...
when it’s fixed I will. Thanks.
Ok so to bump this post, looks like might be a pair of 2000 250 EFI, which based on my limited understanding are non opti engines… basically carbed but with 6 fuel injectors mounted instead of carbs...
Just a bump to say hate having to wait for parts. Broke the middle carb lever that the synching linkage attaches to. Can’t find the part number so eyeballed some levers for sale and ordered one. ...
actually looks like my manual might even cover the 250 EFI.... hmmm
So if they are ‘99 what should I be looking for (looking out for). Seller said they only have 125 hrs so weren’t used much if that’s true. He said both run but one runs rough. Gonna get a service...
Ok got the new (used) exhaust plate wasn’t in too bad shape. Cleaned it up and got it installed and my powerhead sitting back on top of it.
Just bought a pair of merc 250s EFI, 1 runs good, the...
they are on a 2001 boat, seller said he figured they were 2001 but yeah I’m guessing ‘99 or 2000. Seller boat this boat used and he is repowering… I don’t think seller trying to be dishonest he...
Here is the sticker he sent me
Looking at buying a pair of used Mercury 250's, 1 works the other runs rough. Seller provided me this serial # and model #
Model 1250423WD
Serial 0T166095
Any info on these would be...
Cool pic (I think and shows my other boat…)
So totally redid my 1996 Sportster 1200. Tore it completely down, added Hammer 1275 big fin cylinders, 2006 OEM heads that I had Hammer port/ polish, new Hammer 560 cams, newest styly OEM oil pump,...
