Just recently had to repower my 97' Champion 202 elite from a 97' Yamaha 200 Pro V that crapped a piston to 2015 Mercury 250 Pro XS 2 stroke and had to test numerous props to get it to run and handle...
Talk to Steve's Prop Shop on Lake Fork and get their advise!
1997 Champion 202 would be a Mountain Home Ark. built boat. I have the same year and model and love it. I had a 1994 Champion 190 before the 202 I have now and it was a great boat as well.
Speed was mentioned in post #8 but not sure of the exact RPM's due to trying to drive thru slight chop and the wobbles
Thanks Reggie. I have got it getting out of the hole now, and just trying to find best jackplate height. Just a totally different animal with the bigger Merc than it was with the Yamaha!!!
Kris Tx, if you don't mind, can you tell me what and how many plugs in your 27 tempest plus prop and jack plate setting prop to pad?
So far with the 27p Scorpion I've pushed it to 65 gps when it gets "the wobbles" with more trim and hotfoot left. Not sure of rpm's at that point.
Torqmaster with the big hub.
As far as I know it is. The shop that I bought the engine from did the swap and rigging and I was there when they had to adjust the hotfoot for me and they checked by hooking the engine up to...
Just had to repower my 97' 202 with a 2015 Merc 250 with approximately 61 hours on new powerhead . It had a carbed 1997 200 Yamaha ProV with a 25M prop that ran consistantly low to mid 60's depending...

Mann's Razorbacks
52" should be fine. Just put one on my 97' 202 and works great.
I bought 5 of them last spring for $11.99 each at Academy. Walked in to Academy last week and they had them on clearance rack marked $8.96 so I grabbed 7 of them in assorted colors. when I got to the...
Definitely an upgrade to your boat. Fairly easy to do yourself as well.
Prayers for the young man, his family, and teammates.
Lowrance Ghost was a game changer when added to my boat. With Lowrance certain Lowrance electronics hooked up thru NEMA 2000 you can control the trolling motor thru your graphs setting a course along...
If the hot foot pedal functions freely and spring returns it to idle position without the throttle cable attached, replace the throttle cable itself. Cable is not sliding freely inside because bound...
Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall, and Kevin Costner in any western is worth watching!
I bought my plastic plugs at a boat repair shop here on Lake Conroe. Should be able to do a google search to find them.
They also make a plastic plug that fits into the hole. I have them on my 97' 202 to cover the holes where the old flashers were. the one on the bow I mounted my Hummingbird GPS puck to.
You can make or have an aluminum/metal plate made to cover the hole and mount your bracket to it.
Make sure the battery in the remote doesn't have the protective sheild in place since it is new and is making a connection. Ask me how I know!
From what I remember it was around $550, but I had them take the boat off of the trailer and they contracted out my trailer to have it sandblasted and sprayed with bedliner while they had it in the...
