I just wanted to share some things that I have learned since I’ve read so much on here. I have a 2001 200hp vmax that has fought me tooth and nail. I’ve been through two rebuilds now, mostly due to...
Hi everyone, I have a 200 hp vmax that I am having an electrical issue with. I believe it is my CDI but I would like to test one to be sure. Any chance anyone in the Charlotte NC area has a spare or...
Didnt know they had different part numbers. Good to know
when you say blocks are you referring to different porting? All three share the same displacement 3.1l block
I did my ox66 myself with good results until my oil injection decided to quit on me. Just make sure the root cause is fixed or you’ll be doing it again
Not an expert but I think it’s porting and fuel mapping. I want to say I read somewhere that the 250 heads are cut a little different as well.
I'd try running it on an aux tank. Was pressure steady even while missing?
I would guess that they are pumping enough to keep up with fuel demand under 5k but as soon as fuel demand increases with WOT they cant keep the VST full. Weird that it starts right back up though
Well issue resolved it was the vacuum line. As far as the fuel pump resistor mine is also out of spec. I read somewhere that the cdi only uses it during a certain rpm range. From looking at the...
It made it 3 months without messing up again?
I did the same thing when my ox66 blew. Repowered with a later year model lower your hpdi and the hpdi blew after about 10 hours. You're always taking a gamble with used outboards. The ox66 has a...
Thanks for the reply. I just rebuilt the motor and replaced both thermostats when putting it back together. I've been super busy at work this week haven't had much of a chance to troubleshoot but I...
Have you been in contact with the manufacturer? Maybe they would replace them for you. At least they know about it if not
Well update from my troubleshooting today. Got engine running and whenever it cut off I had some fluctuating voltage on he fuel pump. Pressure was corresponding directly with the voltage fluctuations...
Hello everyone. I haven't posted much on here but I've been following and reading for quite a while.
I have a 200 3.1 ox66 that I'm having some issues with. I just rebuilt it and after getting...
Run your motor on an auxiliary tank. Also check your fuel pressure coming out of the vst there is a shrader valve there. Should be around 50 psi I think
Was the fuel pressure checked when it wouldn't plane off?
My understanding is that these motors run on the ragged edge of being lean as it is. If you have a bad injector it isnt supplying the particular cylinder with enough fuel thus the lean condition. In...
I'll hop on the blown HPDI train. Had one go first of the year. The guys over at hydrotec are awesome. I ended up getting an ox66 and I'm rebuilding it instead.
Nice to know. I’ll have to double check my lowers before I get the powerhead back on.
I'm doing the same thing on my 01 200. I believe that the big end goes towards the back. 359215
