I use braid with a fluoro leader with no issues and the rod itself is one of my favorites. Since you have the casting rods, you should already know how light and sensitive the blanks are.

I bought all of my NRX used or dealer rep so I've never paid retail which IMO is just crazy, but for $325-400 I'm comfortable with the investment. I also have my fair share of megabass rods and am a...
Power in order is 893, 854 and 873.
I have an 852c which is the same blank and it's one of my favorite smallmouth rods, but if you want to stay under to your budget look at the kistler helium 3 and a tatula lt. Kistler has a sale right...
Agree.
I've ordered from digitaka and japan lure shop. Both were extremely good experiences with really fast shipping.
When I target largemouth with my favorite baits (senko, fat ika) the 893c is tops for me. When I go for smallies with 4" senkos and wacky rigs the 852c is my go-to.
I think you need an nrx 852c.
Price range, casting or spinning? I use casting gear for these techniques. My favorite rod for wacky rigs is the nrx 852. Another rod I like is a kistler klx. Both rods come in spinning versions as...
Like I said, lews are ok and I never had any real issues with the ones I used to own, but they don't have the "it" factor to me. Lews, abu and bps just kind of bore me. Daiwa/shimano have "it." Do...
Lews are ok, but daiwa is better IMO.
I use the mlxf for drop shots.
Nrx 893, metanium mgl xg, 12lb sniper.
It sounds like you need the spool bearings flushed and lubed.
I like my orochi xx jerk bait special. It's 6'8" length allows me to use downward jerks without slapping the water. The action is moderate/fast so the tip gives and recovers quickly. The parabolic...
I always take shimano/daiwa over others, but lews makes good reels.
I enjoy fishing different daiwa and shimano's too much to stick with only one, but a full stable of met mgl's would be awesome.
I agree, 873crr.
orochi xx jerk bait special.
I fish from a yak and take 3 combos. I rotate which 3 I take based on the water I'm going to fish and time of the year. If I'm on the back of my buddy's boat, then I usually take 5 combos.
The nrx 873crr is 1" longer than your 7'2" parameter, but should work really well for your purposes. I prefer it over the 854.
Have you guys tried the newer hp version? From all accounts it's a big step up in sensitivity.
Get the tatula ct.
I've owned several SV variants and they are the real deal. SV stands for "stress-free, versatile," and they live up to it. Casting, skipping and pitching with anything from 1/8oz on up.
I use a klx finesse jig, worm, tube rod with a PX type R and diy spool. For line, 6lb yozuri hybrid.
