I just rechecked it while the trailer is perfectly level. On the port side I can fit a finger between the tire and the fender. On the starboard side I cannot fit a finger.
When the trailer is level it looks almost the same as the picture above.

Same happened to me 6 or 7 months ago. I just used a hot glue gun and it has held up great. Make sure to clean both surfaces well before gluing.
