I am building a 2003 Mercury 250 EFI down draft 2 stroke ( not an Opti) and need a PCM/ECU. Any 250 ECU for production years 2002 to 2005 should work. Thanks Mark

3.0L or 2.5L
I agree with all the advice given....should that not solve your problem, try replacing your poppet valve assembly.
I always use a mini-vac to test my mercury V6 gear cases to determine leak tightness. 90% of gear cases leak by sucking water in as they cool after a hard run and they heat up. The seals on the...
Absolutely leave the electronic injection ON. Its dependable and works great. The mechanical system is a different story.
Vents the engine mounted oil tank when oil is no longer being "pushed to it from the remote (boat) tank.....its a check valve and yours is leaking by.
Standard ratio for that engine is 1.87 to 1
Most any 200 (2.5L) lower unit from 1986 to 2005 will bolt up and have the correct ratio
Disconnect the bullet connectors to the level alarm and connect them (harness leads, not the sender leads) together. This will stop the alarm if it is the engine mounted tank sensor. If thats your...
Check that the nipple is clear on the intake plenum where the ECU hose connects for MAP sensor.
Yep, a friend had the same deal. Impeller hub spun on a new impeller. Sometimes the poppet can be affected by heat or chemicals the block is exposed to during rebuild processes.
It is located on the starboard side of the block at the bottom. Behind/below the electrical plate w/ switchboxes. 4 bolts and hose from top of block run to it.
Replace poppet valve assembly.
+1 for gmann....That should work fine.
If the alarm horn sounds constant as soon as the key is switched on, you have a ground on the alarm wire ( tan wire with blue tracer)
Tell us your starting procedure. Many dont do it correctly.
Never seen a wrist pin fail...I would think a lubrication issue would show up on the rod bearing or cylinder before the wrist pin. Might simply be a defective part. Did it wear loose in the piston,...
Have it checked with DDT. Sounds like intermittent complete ignition shutdown. I seen this from a bad Crank position sensor. But I would not recommend trying to solve it by throwing parts at it.
The part you described is a voltage regulator. It can affect your tach operation if the tach signal(gray wire) comes from the reg. Don can get you a replacement. Have you noticed any loss of battery...
Looks like its a 200 Supermag with TM gearcase, model year 1995.
The gear on the crank ONLY comes as a nylon gear. If there is a metal one, its after market. The gear that couples to the pump is metal.
I think its 650-700 in gear. Do link and sync to ensure everything is at it proper setting including TPI. Then idle can be adjusted with throttle plate adjust screw on side of air plenum behind VST
The ecu would not cause a complete loss of ignition. If the ignition fails completely, I would look at the "kill circuit". Make sure you dont have the black/ yellow tracer wire shorting to ground on...
Has the gear case been apart? Does it happen when going in reverse?
Stator (high end) if I had one guess.....and most are not equiped to check it properly
