you are talking about the battery charger leads? Yeah i hadn't considered that, probably should route them away to the outside.

yeah when i ordered the 6awg they didnt have it in red, so i ran both black. on the busines end i wrapped some red tape around the last foot or so, otherwise, knowing me i woulda got them mixed up
this is the breaker i installed. used to have a cheap one and it melted instead of breaking. I guess technically it ended up breaking the connection, but there was no manual reset gonna happen, lol....
Here's the finished product. 2awg red cable between the batteries. 60a breaker in the back of the photo. 6awg running to the TM.

i ordered lugs when i bought the 2awg and 6awg cable. Then after i measured & cut my cables, i used a bench vice to tighten the lug, then soldered them in place with a propane torch and 60/40 rosin...
i guess i am too because when i was ordering parts i ordered 2 x 2awg tinned copper 3/8" lugs so i could grab about a foot of 2awg and connect them up.
thx!
What gauge do you guys use for the patch connector between the 2 batteries in a 24v setup?
I am running 6 gauge to the TM - should that short cable be the same, bigger? Does it make a difference?
for what its worth - i ended up ordering Ancor 6awg UL1426 Type 3 (266 strand) tinned copper cable.
Thx SoonerFan!
I grew up about 15 minutes N of you.

i haven't taken a peak reading while under load. i suspect the wiring because its an old boat and the TM that was originally on it was a much smaller TM - one of those funny looking OMC motors - so i...
sorry if this has been asked & answered a million times, i did a search but didn't find anything as definitive as i am looking for.
I have a 24vMK 80# TM that blows a breaker whenever i run it at...
i ordered it online ... lemme check ... yeah ordered it from Mar-Lan industries over in Carrolton. They sale direct to the public on ebay, marlanindustries. only took a day or two to get it in my...
i added a separate circuit box and ran 10ga to the battery and have that dedicated for my electronics - keeps me from having a bunch of wiring going all the way back to the battery or - worse yet,...
good to know Todd, Thx
Todd i have a question - literally a couple of days ago i purchased for $199+tax the 2017 LV-Ultra download. I guess it was version 2017.0. Now they show a 2017.1 available at the discounted price of...
I logged on this morning to see if it was out but all i see is the 2016.10 version.
thank you sir
i would replace the transom bolts and lock nuts while you're at it. they do fatigue over time, so its nice to start off with a fresh set.
thats a good idea.
^^^^
i picked up a set of impact sockets > 1" at harbor freight for dirt cheap and carry them for props, ball hitches, and the like.
what is normal for sure with that motor is the fast idle when it is cold. it should idle around 1000-ish RPMs until it gets to its operating temp, then it settles in at 500-600. i don't put mine in...
i run both in mine, no problems. If i could i wouldn't use any ethanol, but that's not very feasible living in dallas, you have to get 100 miles out of the metroplex to get non ethanol. whenever i...
that would be too easy!
also i don't think i will mess with an extra fuel hose, thats why you bring a fishing partner, worst case they get to sit on the back deck and pump the primer back to the...
thanks guys! i will leave her in.
