No washer that I recall. Slip the clip on the screwdriver so there is no interference with the hole or slot. If you're lucky you can get it on 1st try. I was able to get it started then pry it on...

Champ 2001, I went out and looked and I have the 22" set. You'll have to heat the tip up with a torch before you can bend it and use a benchvise.
