Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. I went with a piece of 1 1/4 aluminum angle and just rivoted it to the cross piece. It seems to hold real well.

You had me there for a second Luke. I was like yea. But the strut is too long.
I wish I had the courage to cut a slit in the carpet. I just got thru putting new carpet on so gonna try something else first.

I thought that too and yes I did rough it up. It stuck good to the aluminum it just peeled away from the poly carbonate.

When you are re carpeting do you brush weldwood glue on both the carpet and the boat or door or just on one side.
