I like the Porter Cable polisher better myself. It is variable speed and has a killer warranty.
Mine was so sun rotted that it only required a wire brushing. Laquer thinner worked on the spots that were stubborn.

I wouldn't use anything but contact cement. The other glues take forever to dry and don't hols as good.
Call a hobby store. There is a chemical that will diso;ve the foam. Don't remember what it's called. Model makers use it to remove the foam from a mold.
Several companies sell the bench seats. Cabelas has a few in their Marine catalog.........but they ain't cheap.

Dont know about that rod maker, but the Phenix Rods boron I had was probably one of the best rods I ever owned. Very tough and sensitive.
