I removed the old spike and waiting on replacement part. From looking online it should be 56.4 inches long and mine is 54 inches long

it is 48” long and when it is deployed some you can move it in and out a few inches.
So it may be the piston or stop as you are saying?

Is it inside the outer housing and hard to see without really looking for it?
