I didn't backup the previous version, I downloaded it. I'm not sure if there's a way to backup what's currently installed. Maybe there's someplace that hosts the older versions?

I upgraded mine to 3.8 without issue. You can always go back to 3.6 if you 3.8 causes you issues.
