I figured out how to show engine hours. It's goes like this...
Turn the boat power on so the as ethernet box is powered
Turn the engine key over one click
Power on fish finder
Hm i have a helix on the bow. Maybe can run a wire up to it and see if that would work. I think it’s not going to happen with the 1198
Just put a 225 SHO on the boat. My console graph is a Humminbird 1198c. The cable from the motor to the graph gets me engine temp and tach but not the hours. It’s running through the humminbird as...
Had a 225 proxs
it was a 70mph boat
a few times we got in to that 71-73 range
prop on the new motor is 25p fury
will see tomorrow what it will do.
it feels like it’s going to be fast
Just put a 225 SHO on the boat. My console graph is a Humminbird 1198c. The cable from the motor to the graph gets me engine temp and tach but not the hours. What are my best options to get the...
Couldn't bring myself to sell the boat and get a new one. I felt like if I got a new hull and it wasn't every bit what this boat is, I'd never live it down. So we spent the last year getting the...
Most days 68-70 would be good. Best day ever on the CA delta, 73.1. That's like your fishing solo, 1/4 tank gas, perfect chop, nothing in the livewell kind of day. This with an 06 ProXS.
Just...
No brainer - buy it
Spent the last 10 years running a 198. It takes time to fully appreciate all that it does. When you have those moments (bad weather day, hitting a wake wrong, running across...
Thinking about repowering. 2006 198 Elite. Have a ProXS on it currently. It runs ok but it feels like it's about time for a new motor. Has anyone put one of the new ProXS on a 198? Or any other...
I bought a new tandem from Coastline a few months ago for my 198. Got the full deal. Brakes, black anodized beams, big boy steps, etc. Spent around $6 by the time it was all done. It's a pretty...
Keep a small towel stuffed in the drain plug, and a couple in the livewell on the way to the lake. Pull over and check your stuff (and put the towels away) before you get to the inspection. If...
Any numbers?
2006 Mercury Optimax 225 ProXS. Has hotfoot
When shifting from neutral to in gear, it does not always go in to gear. If it doesn’t “catch” I can go back to neutral, push the shifter toward the...
Ditto 25 3 blade fury and Tempest 25 3 blade not far behind
The fury holds the boat on plane at slower speeds a little better and runs a little faster for me.
This happens... Mine ripped off completely. Same for a friend. Not sure exactly what causes it, maybe it seizes up when the line goes dry of brake fluid and then rips off. Sure is exciting when...
I tried adding a Y cable on my Humminbird 1198 to a 2d thru hull in my Champion 198. The space to shoot the 2d through the hull is very confined. A lowrance puck would fit (it had one previously). ...
The trailer. Hahah
Mine blew up on my 225 ProXS. The inside was shredded metal. Got it changed out, no problem. It's just money right... Didn't do any special cleaning of injectors etc. FWIW.
That's a bad machine. If there's one part I could do without it's the infra camera mounting location. One of the best things about Champion front ends is the big flat spot your non boater can step...
I looked earlier this week. It doesn't look like there are any for sale anywhere, kinda crazy.
Any word when a 198 would be available?
22' 11" sounds about right. I never measured with the motor trimmed down. With the motor trimmed up and a 2006 UFP trailer with swing away tongue I'm at 23' 8". 2006 model, with a 225 ProXS.
Turned out to be a bad wire to one of the injectors. Pretty random thing to have happen! Had mechanic fix the cross threaded plug. Seems good now.
I did remove the lower cowling but didn't use the fuel line, just thought I could hand start it with the bar. Looking at back tap tool... Grr.
